![]() THE OVERFLOW Since the last post is fast approaching 3k comments and getting laggy for some of our players, we have decided to go ahead and stick up the overflow post. Please continue your threads or start new ones here if you'd like. To make this easier on those continuing threads from the last meme, here's a handy form: Please remember to let your thread partners know you've bumped your threads over here as well! We started the meme early to give you plenty of room to do just that. With the City of Ariel grand opening only a month away, we are holding our first ever test drive meme. Tag in and see how your character would settle in the game. You're a fresh face in the city, newly processed, and arriving at a bustling time. The city is expanding and you are greeted first in the re-education center by your helpful counselors and then directed out of the building to a large festival. Be puzzled, make friends, have sex, or whatever you want! There are no restrictions on thread types played out here. Your first awareness that something has gone wrong comes during a groggy moment of semi-lucidity when you look around yourself and find that -- instead of wherever you remember being last -- you're in a chair, in a room with a man you don't recognize. He's sitting behind a desk whistling to himself and sorting paperwork. The whole atmosphere might remind you of a high school guidance counselor's office, only with far more comfortable chairs. You were brought to Ariel during a very special time! There's a large festival going on celebrating the new expansions to the city and everything is decked out for it. Everything is bustling and vibrant in the city today because of the celebrations. There are decorations up, food vendors set up all along the streets, kissing booths, games, and just about anything else you can imagine an event like this would have! The people of Ariel are out and about as well, some are in vibrant costumes and others are just checking out the sights. Some of the more exhibitionist types are even having a little more fun out in public than you may be used to seeing back home. As soon as the grogginess from your arrival passes, you are allowed to leave the re-education center and see it all for yourself. Upon exiting, you are even handed beads of various colors, several of each so you don't worry about running out. Each color has a special meaning listed below: pink - toys These are to aid you in making a connection with others. Show your interest in others and tell them exactly what you would like to do with them by sharing the beads. If you would rather take a different approach, feel free to walk around the festival and see what (or who) catches your eye. The point is to relax and get settled in your new home. | |
TAG IN - Post your character's name, canon, and preferences. - Set up an opener in your comment or leave it blank. - Tag around and have fun! | USEFUL LINKS: [Premise] [Rules] [F.A.Q.] [Locations] [Local Citizens (NPC)] [Taken] [Wanted] [Reserves] [Application] [Main] [Logs] [OOC] |

And so it was that the kid had stood out to Sasori right away, by dress and by the anger that hardened his features, by the purposeful stride and tight-fisted hands. No one could mistake the youth for one of the throngs of idle and hedonistic natives drinking and fucking in the streets. This was surely someone like Sasori himself, an outsider, at least in spirit if nothing else. Measured steps carried him into the younger man's path to gain his attention.
"You appear as though you don't belong here," Sasori said, once close enough.
/fistbump!
He scanned through his memory, sizing up Sasori by height and build, testing the other's voice in his ear. No familiarity at all sprung up, and he raised an eyebrow.
"Nor you, Akatsuki," he responded quietly. A conversational acknowledgment of at least partial recognition.

His gaze slid over the boy, assessing. There was no mistaking it with that familiarity made clear, not for someone with as much battlefield experience as Sasori. The way this boy carried himself, his careful scrutiny, the caution and the confidence to stand his ground alike, all of it suggested a fellow shinobi regardless of the lack of a visible identifying headband.
"Hmm, it appears we may have more in common than I anticipated, if you know that name," he said, what was visible behind hat and cloak collar still revealing little. "I wonder how far that commonality extends. Tell me, what village do you serve, boy?"
no subject
"First one, then another, now none." He knew Akatsuki, but that didn't mean he knew this Akatsuki, and he wasn't intent on spilling his life story to a random missing-nin. "The same for you, I'd guess, though maybe not two villages." He wondered if Sasori would guess which village would take a traitor.
no subject
"That wouldn't be too difficult a guess to hazard on your part, considering this cloak makes my affiliation apparent," he said. "Your own, however, is rather curious. The number of villages that would recruit our kind are rather few and far between."
Sasori's gaze reassessed, and he considered the possible choices for that second village; the smirk that formed on his lips a moment later may have been shrouded by the cloak, but it colored his tone well enough to be noticed. "...Well. You do have the look about you that he always favored."

Externally, the apparent tic of the eyes was the only change, smirk not fading a bit. In fact, he chuckled, sizing the other man up. "And you would know...?" Heights could be deceiving when it came to age, that much he knew, but the voice did not sound particularly aged. "From experience, I assume? On-level, or... underneath?" Sasuke stretched out the syllables of that last word just slightly, enough to weight it significantly. Subtlety of this level was probably not at all necessary in this hell of smut and sex and shamelessness, but that didn't mean he was going to talk outright like a base whore.

And there was no reason now not to let that information slip, now that he was sure he was dealing with someone who'd held a Sound affiliation. It meant two things: one, that this boy could hold useful information about Orochimaru for him, and two, that there was the possibility Sasori wasn't dealing with the lowest form of shinobi trash. After all, every other village he knew of that recruited rogue ninja would just as happily take any common bandit who'd happened to get their hands on a stolen headband as they would a true, fully trained shinobi.
It didn't matter that anything useful Sasori might learn would not be of much use here and might not be of any use at all to a dead man. Information was information, and Sasori was alive now, so there was no reason to go about abandoning his old habits. It was just as possible for Orochimaru to show up here as it was for anyone else, and Sasori had always been one to plan ahead as much as he could.

"How natural?" he queried, still entertained by this whole line of conversation. "Did you watch?" If Sasori could shoot off snide remarks about this kind of thing, Sasuke may as well. He was beyond pleasantries at this point. And while he certainly filed away the information that this Akatsuki was Orochimaru's old partner, it hardly mattered with the snake mostly dead. It mattered less here.
