CITY OF ARIEL: THE TEST DRIVE THE OVERFLOW, PART DEUX! Since the last post is again fast approaching 3k comments and getting laggy for some of our players, we have decided to go ahead and stick up the overflow post, even though there's just a little over a week to game start. Please continue your threads or start new ones here if you'd like. We started the meme early to give you plenty of room to do just that. ◆◆◆◆ With the City of Ariel grand opening only a month away, we are holding our first ever test drive meme. Tag in and see how your character would settle in the game. You're a fresh face in the city, newly processed, and arriving at a bustling time. The city is expanding and you are greeted first in the re-education center by your helpful counselors and then directed out of the building to a large festival. Be puzzled, make friends, have sex, or whatever you want! There are no restrictions on thread types played out here. Your first awareness that something has gone wrong comes during a groggy moment of semi-lucidity when you look around yourself and find that -- instead of wherever you remember being last -- you're in a chair, in a room with a man you don't recognize. He's sitting behind a desk whistling to himself and sorting paperwork. The whole atmosphere might remind you of a high school guidance counselor's office, only with far more comfortable chairs. When your head clears enough to speak and you ask him where you are, he smiles brightly and says, "Welcome to the City of Ariel." You were brought to Ariel during a very special time! There's a large festival going on celebrating the new expansions to the city and everything is decked out for it. Everything is bustling and vibrant in the city today because of the celebrations. There are decorations up, food vendors set up all along the streets, kissing booths, games, and just about anything else you can imagine an event like this would have! The people of Ariel are out and about as well, some are in vibrant costumes and others are just checking out the sights. Some of the more exhibitionist types are even having a little more fun out in public than you may be used to seeing back home. As soon as the grogginess from your arrival passes, you are allowed to leave the re-education center and see it all for yourself. Upon exiting, you are even handed beads of various colors, several of each so you don't worry about running out. Each color has a special meaning listed below: pink - toys blue - oral yellow - watersports green - age play lavender - crossdressing orange - multiples grey - bondage white - hands (mutual masturbation, fingering, handjob) red - blood black - wildcard These are to aid you in making a connection with others. Show your interest in others and tell them exactly what you would like to do with them by sharing the beads. If you would rather take a different approach, feel free to walk around the festival and see what (or who) catches your eye. The point is to relax and get settled in your new home.

Sex can coerce a person into a lot of things. [Sasuke says this from a voice of certainty, though he tries to hide the authority, the experience behind it. Not that he really expects someone like Johnny to notice.]

[Experience he lacked. But he wasn't completely stupid - he could feel heat moving through his body in that familiar telling way. This was really not a good time for it...]

I guess so. [Johnny thought back to rumors that he had heard of married men cheating on their wives, in his neighborhood at home.] Especially stupid things.

[He briefly fanned himself by tugging on the collar of his shirt.] We'll have to be careful not to fall for their crap.

I guess... you can put me down now.

[Not that she's in a hurry to go, but she does need to stretch her legs. Such a thing shouldn't tire her out so quickly, but her body isn't working the way it should. Must be that damn chip in her head. Though she supposes she can be grateful to the people that brought her here for the chance to experience pleasures she never would have otherwise.]

Will you escort me to my apartment?

[Thor looks at the screen, curious. They need to be charged? Stark technology has come so far and conquered so much. And yet, it always fails him.]

Perhaps you will find one here. [He eyes the passer-bys, the booths and broadcasting screens around them. There is technology here, as well. Unlike Stark's, or that of ancient Asgard. Different from all the realms. Loki will find a use for it all soon enough, Thor believes. He is wont to explore such things.]

[Not to mention the chip, which from they've told him, is a technology that is likewise dangerous and perverted, and something no doubt that Loki might enjoy rather than scorn.] What do you make of this place?

[...He is certainly not referring to the perversions all around them. Like those people blatantly having sex on that ride over there, half falling off of it. Or the fact that they both still have beads looped around their necks that Thor was told are tokens of affection to be given and taken, and used.]

[ a loaded question, that.

loki takes a moment, to look pointedly around them. he takes in the many brightly advertised kiosks, the games and the toys and the laughter, the varying foodstuffs. and, of course, the half-naked people over there who seem to be, ah, seizing the day, as it were. ]

I make quite a lot of it.

[ pocketing the phone again, loki clasps his hands behind his back and smiles as innocently as he can manage (which is, to be fair, very innocently). ]

It seems not all too terrible! A society centered around the pleasures of being alive, the people seem warm and friendly, they have been very welcoming, and have not denied me anything. Mostly.

[ loki's eyes cut to the right, and to the left. he is well aware of the chip in his head, and what it is capable of - recorded surveillance is very much a possibility, one that thor likely has not noted, or simply ignores. thor is thor, after all. still, loki is loathe to speak freely in such a public place, with such an insidious thing in his head - no, he shall keep his cards close, he thinks, at least until he has a grasped a fuller measure of this place. ]

But it is ever unwise to judge a book by its cover, yes? I am sure that there is much more to this place than meets the eye!

[ a brief pause. it seems a silly thing to ask, but.. ]

Your thoughts?

[This is a new one for him. He's used to being the one in charge, and he's certainly never had a belt around his throat. His eyes are careful as she threads it through, but he doesn't stop her, even now. He's curious. He likes collecting things, and new experiences count in there, too. It's not like she's choking him, at least, and he just grins at her words.]

You might be a dangerous woman, Mindfang.

[But she's also a beautiful one, and he licks his lips as she bulls off the blouse. The blue is striking, but other than that it looks basically like what he's used to. His hands slight up to squeeze her breasts, thumbs playing over those hard blue peaks. How much is she like a normal woman, is the question? He supposes he'll have to see what's in her tight trousers, next.]

[He should, yes, and he slowly does, lowering her to her feet gently enough that she'll have time to get her feet under her. He's not the most caring man around, but he likes what's his, and he doesn't want to see her just fall on her ass. While she steadies herself, he tucks himself away and pulls his pants back closed.]

I suppose I should. Who knows what kind of predators would come after you now.

[A flash of those sharp teeth should prove that he's the predator most worth watching. He grabs her arm, pulling her firmly but not roughly against his side.]

You want to show me the way?

[Before answering, Thor thinks and tries to reason just why Loki would mention only the things that he was told, and none of what was done.]

[Either the chip has done its work on him, or else he is hiding something. Either way, Thor doesn't bother to figure it out. He states his mind clearly, harsh words not directed to Loki.]

They give us pleasures, yes -- food, and company, and mead enough to drown in. [And something in him tells him to be satisfied with this, to enjoy these things. To revel in the warmth, and satisfy only carnal needs.]

[And yet.]

All for what? What price have we paid? For Mjolnir? For Asgardia, that is lost to us? For friends and family pulled from the fabric of time, now ripped away again? For our life force, the very air breathed into us gods?!

[Yep, Loki, look what you did. Now he's pissed again.]

For freedom, and freedom from madness, and the sanctity of our persons?!

For what? For this? [He pulls the beads at his neck until the strings snap, and the beads fall and clatter away.]


[Someone needs to be reeducated again. Good thing they're nowhere near the centers... Although he's getting some unhappy looks from the people around him, so it may just be a matter of time.]

Thor -

[ loki is not surprised by his brother's reaction, thor has ever been this way. he is much like a volcano, loki thinks. on the surface he is broad and stony, cold and silent and unmoving, the great rocky mountain whose craggy face is ever frowning and yet beneath it flows the hot blood of the world, molten magma that stirs and rolls and never sleeps. it may lie dormant for weeks, months, centuries, but oh when she blows it is always a terrifying, beautiful, dangerous thing. ]

Thor --

[ and loki is not always immune to it. in fact, he is often its target. but things have.. shifted, between them, since the fall of surtur, and the manchester gods. there was always love between them, but there is now an understanding more deep than they previously possessed. ]

Thor -- !

[ loki wants to know his thoughts, of course, but he cannot risk the volcanic explosion. not here. his small hands rise to his brother's arms, strong in their wiriness, grasping at his forearms, his wrists. they are getting strange looks now, frowns, suspicious glances. loki leans in, and keeps his grasp. ]

Perhaps we should, ah, speak elsewhere.

[fantheflame]

Very stupid things. [The agreement was quiet, but Sasuke made it anyway.]

[He snorted quietly at that last statement, though.] Let me know how long you last.

[walking_malice]

[He insisted stubbornly.] I can take care of it myself. I'm not gonna go randomly jump someone.

Besides, these people [he makes a gesture at all the activities going on right in public] are, uh, busy enough as it is. Who knows what they'd do to us?

[fantheflame]

[The soft laugh was at least gentler this time.] I certainly wouldn't risk finding out. If you do decide to fuck someone, make sure you do it somewhere private. [Some of the debauchery he'd seen? He wouldn't put anything past these people.]

[walking_malice]

[His cheeks reddened a little at the other's bluntness. Sure, he had fantasies about having sex before, but to actually go through with it? That was another thing entirely.]

W-well, of course-! [Huff.] Why are you so cool about all this? You're not made of stone or something, are you?

[Sasuke raised an eyebrow, sizing the other up. Rather than answer the question, after a moment, he asked one of his own:]

How old are you?

[Curious detective is curious!

Although, that question actually shut him up for a good long moment as he tried to figure out how to answer. People wouldn't believe his real age, because of his appearance. He didn't like lying about it, but he had been told the lie for so long that he believed it... until he found out the truth just recently.

He went with the lie, for now.] I'm 16.

[Sasuke's dubious frown was obvious; he made no attempt to conceal his disbelief. Not that Johnny necessarily looked a different age from what he said; it was the pause that made Sasuke frown. What he would give to have the Sharingan right now.]

Alright.

Now to answer your question in a way... have you ever had sex?

[walking_malice]

No. [He might have sounded a little defensive there. He's had no experience sexually, and from the way other guys in his neighborhood talk, it sounds like they're all getting some kind of action. Of course, they could also be full of it.

Johnny looked at him with some defiance as he crossed his arms over his chest and tried to appear more intimidating.] Have you?

[Sasuke expected as much. Not surprising. Nor is the defensiveness, really. That attempt at looking intimidating, though... that combined with the question earns an icy, blank-faced coolness.]

More times than I care to count.

[Not more times than he could count... the Sharingan has its inconveniences as much as its strengths.]

I see. [His reply was just as cool. It figured. His situation was much more different than many people, but hard to explain to make them really understand.

Still, there wasn't any reason to resent the other for having the extra knowledge and experience. He might have been a little jealous, was all.]

Well, no wonder you're so calm about it. [He hesitated before asking.] ...Got any tips you wanna share? Like, how to handle things. I'd rather not go crazy on anyone.

[featherheaded]

[Thor is still wrapped in his anger as Loki speaks, and it takes the space of a few breaths for the words to sink into his mind and give their meaning.]

[Elsewhere. Thor has no desire or need to be anywhere but where he is. But from the way his head pounds already, it is, perhaps, a wise idea to find a quiet place to speak. The search for Mjolnir and the Asgardians... Well, he has found Loki today. It's a victory. There is tomorrow, still, to find the rest.]

[He looks to Loki, and the small hands that hold his wrists. Somewhere else, he's said. But Thor cannot name a place he'd like to go. This city is unfamiliar, still. It isn't Asgardia, or any place on Midgard he knows.]

Where?

TENSES goddammit

That's what I was going for, yes. [Sasuke had had to make himself calm about it. He'd have lost himself a long time ago if he'd allowed himself to retain the embarrassment he'd had before going to Otogakure. Going to Orochimaru.]

[The next question, though, earned a small, small start of surprise. Asking for advice was nonplussing enough... that a virgin would worry about "going crazy on" someone? That told Sasuke quite a lot.]

...Know your limits. [If only Sasuke had been able to.] Even if that means stopping in the middle of it. [Gods, how he wished that had been an option available to him.]

[ He frowns, but her rudeness isn't as offputting as it might be for others. It's not as though social niceties mean much to him and he's not usually the type to be riled up easily, particularly when he's found a subject of curiosity like herself. ]

I'm afraid I haven't met anyone who can...smell colors before, although as an artist I'll admit to finding that rather interesting.

Is this a typical ability where you come from?

"Short and boring." If only because there wasn't much of his story that he could or would tell. He made himself comfortable grinning around the neck of the bottle. "Typical poor kid story. Parents died when I was pretty young, grew up on the shitty side of town, and eventually got a decent job." It's true, as far as it goes anyway.

"But I like good booze and it's even better with smokin' hot company." That grin though was still sly and he winked before daring to slip his arm back around her. "Name's Reno. And now that you know my life story, you gonna share?"

So it gets easier as you, uh… do it more, huh? [He didn’t seem happy with that revelation, despite being a hormonal teenage boy. Or maybe because of it.] Damn…

[He thought about sex probably just as often as any other guy his age, but there was a time and a place for that. The idea of basically being forced into some lust-induced state and running around with a bunch of other people in the same position… it left a bad taste in his mouth. Breed stock, Sasuke had said. No kidding.]

That’s the problem. [His face suddenly turned very serious. Johnny was remembering what he did to his comrades in his Awaker form.] I don’t know my limits. I can’t exactly go test them out on people either. That wouldn’t be right.

[ when thor finally returns to his senses, loki breathes a sigh of relief; it can sometimes be a difficult thing to rein in his brother's temper, once it has flared. but loki can feel him relax beneath the grip of his hands, and he knows that all is well.

for now, at least.

loki casts a brief glance around them; the onlookers, it seems, have moved on and seem to be paying them no mind but still loki would rather be out from under their gaze altogether, if he can help it. and so he tugs at thor's wrists, guides him around and away, leading him toward the skirts of the festivities. ]
