now that's the kind of championship hawke could get into. OHOHO, into~

[ A smirk for the debauchery. A nod for crumbling walls – even though Fenris was, well, turned around ROFL I TTLY MISSED THAT!!. A shake for their comrades. And for the mention of his missing magic…? He knew he had to tell him eventually; they were partners, friends, and if they were going to get out of this unscathed, they needed to be honest and open – not that kind of open— with each other. Still… was it wrong that he didn’t want to admit it? Fenris was just about the most judgmental person he’d ever had the pleasure of meeting and considering, let him repeat this once again, the elf hated magic with every fiber of his being, he knew there was only one way the other would feel about this. He would be happy. Ecstatic. Ready to break out in one of those choreographed dances he’d mentioned in passing once before. Which was good in a way, wasn’t it? Better to have him glad he was now a crippled version of his former, battle-ready self, rather than see him as a hindrance to a potential escape plan. He just… didn’t want to be seen differently or worse, for Fenris to like him better this way. The details were fuzzy at best, so he wasn’t entirely sure how any of this worked – how had they even managed to sever his connection to the Fade without turning him tranquil? – or if the possibility even existed but he had to wonder what would happen if he got his magic back. What if Fenris couldn’t overlook that as he had before?

He’d never wanted to be defined by his magic, nor had he ever wanted to be defined without it; he’d always wanted to be Garrett but maybe that was too much to ask in a world that, for the most part, feared what magic could do. Shifting his feet, he tipped his chin down and glanced to one upturned palm, flexing his fingers in an’ out as he rolled his shoulders with as little care as he could. ]
Gone. [ Still staring at his fingers, it was as though he was waiting for a tremble, a hint of something but that foolish hope faded as quickly as it had come and he glanced to Fenris; ah well, where was his humor? ] It seems they don’t favor magic either. [ Or at least, their citizens having it, because the people in charge certainly possessed some sort of power to transport them here. ] At least this city found an alternative to removing it. It would have been a travesty to rob the world of my charming personality. [ He managed a strained smile on that, but the joke fell flat because by the Maker, why was he joking about tranquility? ]
