It's that time finally! Here's our first How's My Driving? post. This sitewide meme will go up on the 20th of every month and it's encouraged that everyone post! Please post a list of your current in-game characters as a reference for other members to use for comments or critique.

Remember to keep it civil. Outright flaming will not be tolerated and we will deal with any hostile comments as soon as possible. Critique should be constructive. Offer ways a player can improve their characters, solve any problems you might have, etc. rather than just telling them they're horrible with no examples or pointers.

Likewise, this isn't a love meme. It's great to tell someone you think they're doing a good job or you love playing with them! Just give reasons for why you think they're awesome or what they're doing well. We're not discouraging positive comments. Love is great, but so is hearing why you are so you know what to keep doing.

Anon comments are enabled and IP logging is off for those who'd prefer a little anonymity, but please don't abuse this feature to be rude to other players.

I get that Natasha and Clint are close, but her focus on him in this game so far is bordering on creepy obsession. She's laser focused on him to the exclusion of everything else, even other castmates. It's really off-putting and makes her seem kind of unapproachable. She's exactly the sort of muse that my muse would want to try to interact with, but I'm hesitant to make the effort because it seems like nothing but Clint makes any difference to her.

I haven't been entirely sure how to respond to this because part of what you're asking me to work on here has been done on purpose. So I'm just going to kind of wing it and hope it makes sense. I think this may be, in part, a case of "your headcanon is not my headcanon."

At this point in game (roughly one week at the time of this comment), Natasha is still in the initial paranoid stage, she's super uncomfortable, and she came from a point in her time where Clint was seriously emotionally compromised and suddenly she's in a strange world where she no longer has the resources she would have counted on to help her help him. She's in a strange and unknown place where they're both been messed with, she's got an implant in her brain, a shadowy government whatever has fucked with her body, these are not things she has enjoyed in the past.

I can understand that it's frustrating for you, because sometimes it's a little frustrating for me, but I want to stick it out and play her in a way that I think is realistic for the headcanon I have for her. Her libido is cranked way up and she's not sure what to do with it. She and Clint haven't ever had sex because for her it's work, and most of the people she sleeps with she also ends up killing, and while she can enjoy the physical sensation of it, it's something she's learned to compartmentalize in her mind. It's something she does to get the bigger picture job done.

As for her fixation on Clint, that's also something I've been doing intentionally. She's uncomfortable and in a situation where she doesn't have her normal advantages and to keep from freaking out, she's focusing on the most important thing she has with her, which is her partner. His period of panic is causing him to scatter, hers is causing her to focus. Even after that, though, he's always going to be the most important thing to her. She's not a normal woman, she doesn't do friends the way normal people do. It took the two of them years to get to the level of trust they have now and it's not something she has with anyone else. Even though the other members of the Avengers are canonmates, she doesn't consider them friends. If you really think about it, she's known them for a day, maybe two if you stretch out the timeline of the movie, and has really only spent a matter of hours in the company of most of them. It takes so much longer than that for her to build any sort of trust with someone.

So, I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm sorry you feel uncomfortable approaching her. If you'd like to talk through any of my headcanon, or share some of yours and where specifically you think she should be acting differently, I'd love to hear it and maybe I can incorporate some of it to get her to loosen up faster. If you don't feel comfortable threading with her because of the way I play her I completely understand. There are many versions of Natasha out there in RP land and I may not be playing one you want to interact with. In that case, should I ever tag you in the future, please just let me know and I will stop, no hard feelings. But if you think that Natasha is someone your character would like to interact with than I really do encourage you to hit up her open log. The likelihood of smut is low because at that point Clint has been taken for reeducation and she's focused on finding him, but it could start some CR between them. Natasha's never going to be a woman who just jumps in bed with random strangers, she's too much a product of her environment for that, but building some light CR now makes that possibility far more likely in the future.
