HMD meme

HMD

It's that time finally! Here's our How's My Driving? post. This sitewide meme will go up on the 20th of every month and it's encouraged that everyone post! Please post a list of your current in-game characters as a reference for other members to use for comments or critique.

Remember to keep it civil. Outright flaming will not be tolerated and we will deal with any hostile comments as soon as possible. Critique should be constructive. Offer ways a player can improve their characters, solve any problems you might have, etc. rather than just telling them they're horrible with no examples or pointers.

Likewise, this isn't a love meme. It's great to tell someone you think they're doing a good job or you love playing with them! Just give reasons for why you think they're awesome or what they're doing well. We're not discouraging positive comments. Love is great, but so is hearing why you are so you know what to keep doing.

Anon comments are enabled and IP logging is off for those who'd prefer a little anonymity, but please don't abuse this feature to be rude to other players.

If anything comes up, please visit the concerns page to let us know or contact us through any of the other various ways listed.

No crit for you guys, because seriously, you've done such an amazing job in picking up the game and carrying things forward. This is about the smoothest Mod transition I've ever seen in a game, and I know there must have been heaps of work put in behind the scenes to make things look so seamless. specifically, I like:

1) That you guys convey a very strong mod presence with updates, plotting posts and plurks, communicating with the playerbase whilst not being invasive and over-bearing about it. It definitely feels like you're there when we need you.

2) Having a very quick turnaround when answering player questions, helping us all to get on with all our sexy plotting and have fun.

3) I definitely appreciate the implementation of a few rules, like no longer taking critique from the anon communities and knowing to place a limit on threads with the OC!account so you don't get overloaded, plus the additions of the new mini!mods. Mods make up the backbone and structure of a game, so it's great to see you guys are taking care of yourselves too.

I notice in the case of Sylvia and Mara that your characters aren't getting out quite as much, and that's only to be expected really, since you've been busy tackling so many other things. I just wanted to say, don't be afraid to ask for more help if you need it. Obviously from the number of people submitting mod applications, a lot of us are eager to help lighten your load. I really don't want to see the situation arise again where the mods are too busy modding to play their own game and have fun with it, and you two didn't exactly sign up for this when you joined Ariel in the beginning.

But anyway, I am extremely grateful to you guys. Thank you so much for all the hard work!!

We really appreciate this! We hope to get the whole mod team structure going and stable with the next app round, see if our new methods work out. If they don't, we'll have to make some changes.

Regarding our own characters: I can't speak for Sylvia, but for me it was a hit of mod stuff for about a week that made me slow, and now it's the holidays clogging me up something major. I'm off the computer most of the hours of the day, and then I'm all brained out by the time I can get online. Thus, tags are super-slow. When holiday rush is over, I bet I'll be a lot better about getting them out there.

You're welcome, and I hope we can continue to keep this game on even footing!

If we're not supposed to take anon crit, then why is anon enabled on this open post?

Doing this and having that as a rule is as contradicting as a lot of their other rules for game and characters. Maybe have a look at that too otherwise both of our concerns don't matter.

They didn't say about not taking anonymous crit.

They said about not taking crit from anon communities, ie rpanons etc, where half the stuff posted is shit-stirring from bored trolls not even within the game.

There's a difference between coming to the mods directly (even under guise of anon) and going the anoncomm route.

As someone else said, what I like is that the mods aren't taking their cues from the anon communities, like wankgate and rpanons. Critiquing anonymously for the HMD, to the mod concerns post and other such things are perfectly valid and quite common in a lot of games. Even when airing legitimate concerns, most people don't like the stigma attached to doing it, especially because people in this game have already proven to be pretty touchy and just as likely to run and wail to the aforementioned anon communities in an attempt to stir shit.

Not everyone does react that way, but since most of us don't know each other very well, it's far more comfortable to be able to test the waters under the veil of anon when opening the floor to critique.
