[Whether or not Matt had something to say has been rendered entirely irrelevant by the fact that he didn't try to say anything while he had the chance. The only words that came out of his mouth were unrelated to anything useful.]
You had your chance to say something.
[Mello isn't yelling, but he can barely manage to get the words out, thick as they are with rage. Matt had plenty of chances, when they were taking clothes off of each other and putting lip against lip, hand against leather. They were alone, and close. He could have whispered something at any time while they were against each other — and did not.
Mello may have been content to let Matt walk away. They both need to calm down, to recollect, to take into consideration the fact that there are chips in their heads that are likely making them act in ways they wouldn't otherwise. Mello does, contrary to what people may think of him, have the sense to recognize that what they need right now is space, or they are going to end up getting into a serious fight, but then Matt does two things to set him off on edge.
He shoves into him, and drops two words that he knows — knows so well, it makes Mello sick — that Mello does not like hearing. At all.
And so there is no break, no chance to settle down and then meet back up to act like nothing happened and it was just another one of the arguments that result from high stress and long hours of work that often revolves around kidnapping and killing, anything it'll take to catch Kira. Instead, Mello stalks right after Matt, grabs his shoulder to jerk him around, and then aims a punch right toward his face.]
