With the City of Ariel grand opening only a month away, we are holding our first ever test drive meme. Tag in and see how your character would settle in the game. You're a fresh face in the city, newly processed, and arriving at a bustling time. The city is expanding and you are greeted first in the re-education center by your helpful counselors and then directed out of the building to a large festival.

Be puzzled, make friends, have sex, or whatever you want! There are no restrictions on thread types played out here.

Your first awareness that something has gone wrong comes during a groggy moment of semi-lucidity when you look around yourself and find that -- instead of wherever you remember being last -- you're in a chair, in a room with a man you don't recognize. He's sitting behind a desk whistling to himself and sorting paperwork. The whole atmosphere might remind you of a high school guidance counselor's office, only with far more comfortable chairs.

When your head clears enough to speak and you ask him where you are, he smiles brightly and says, "Welcome to the City of Ariel."

You were brought to Ariel during a very special time! There's a large festival going on celebrating the new expansions to the city and everything is decked out for it. Everything is bustling and vibrant in the city today because of the celebrations. There are decorations up, food vendors set up all along the streets, kissing booths, games, and just about anything else you can imagine an event like this would have!

The people of Ariel are out and about as well, some are in vibrant costumes and others are just checking out the sights. Some of the more exhibitionist types are even having a little more fun out in public than you may be used to seeing back home.

As soon as the grogginess from your arrival passes, you are allowed to leave the re-education center and see it all for yourself. Upon exiting, you are even handed beads of various colors, several of each so you don't worry about running out.

Each color has a special meaning listed below:

pink - toys
blue - oral
yellow - watersports
green - age play
lavender - crossdressing
orange - multiples
grey - bondage
white - hands (mutual masturbation, fingering, handjob)
red - blood
black - wildcard

These are to aid you in making a connection with others. Show your interest in others and tell them exactly what you would like to do with them by sharing the beads.

If you would rather take a different approach, feel free to walk around the festival and see what (or who) catches your eye. The point is to relax and get settled in your new home.

Seriously, Trace is cute. And... Umi's pretty sure she's never thought of liking girls. Sure, she's seen the way Eagle and Lantis are, and it's not like she hasn't heard of all sorts of kinds of sexuality in passing, but she's never thought hard enough to apply it to herself. But now that she's sitting here with Trace, there are things popping into her head.

"You don't have to be a princess to be a fair maiden, worthy of a knight's attention." Umi can't help snickering at her overly dramatic way of saying that. "Do what you can, when you can. That's all we need to do for each other, and if we do that I think we can really start to get past 'just met' pretty easily."

"Uhm... thanks." Trace repeats herself stupidly, mostly because that stupidly dramatic way of saying it was also really sweet, at least to Trace.

She clears her throat. "That's a good way of working at it, though. We'll help each other out as much as we can, and become... best friends forever, or something." She guesses. She still had friends, obviously, and she liked them, even when Moon was an asshole to her - but she'd never rely on them, not completely. "... And seriously, that whole 'knight' thing is liable to make a girl swoon. Or a guy, for that matter."

Man, Trace is awkward, Umi really needs to yank her out of that shell. Unless this is the real, honest Trace, but it feels like she's having a hard time being herself. It'll take time, she's not going to force it, but she wants to see it.

"Haha, well... I've got some really important best friends," she doesn't want to be mean, but she wouldn't die for Trace as easily as she would the others or anything. "But we can be really, really good friends." Umi clears her throat at yet another mention of the knight thing. She's not sure if she should just blab about it yet. "Am I really that dashing? Are you swooning yet?"

"Mm..." Trace would like to echo the sentiment, but she can't. As for whether this is the 'real' her... it's about 50/50. She's sort of naturally awkward, but ever since the accident 'tense' has practically been her middle name. So she became even more awkward.

"Totally. You can't see it, but I am just swooning all over the place." Trace jokes, giving a little laugh and remembering to take another bite of her sandwich. "... Actually, I've heard the word a lot, but do you know what swooning actually is? I'm not really sure."

Once you've gone through fighting and suffering alongside people, you tend to bond, and when you are all strong and kind people at heart, that bond is almost unbreakable. Umi really doesn't like to brag, but she's just as close to them as she is to her own parents, if in a different way.

"I think it literally means... uh... fainting from how amazingly charming someone is." Umi laughs a little as well. "So you aren't actually doing that yet, but I dunno, you might be getting close." Does she want to charm Trace? It's getting harder to think that she isn't.

Even if she didn't want to, she was definitely doing a good job of it. "Yeah, definitely." With that vaguely awkward note to end on, Trace takes the last bite of her sandwich and wipes her hands off with a napkin. Hey, she might not be rich, but she could still have some class.

"... Really, though, I know I've said this like five times, but thanks a lot. You're like the only reason I haven't just started panicking and running in a random direction. Well, that and I can't exactly do much running. Hobbling in a random direction." ... Okay, no, that was still awkward. "You get what I mean. Anyway, just try to keep yourself from sweeping me off my feet. Even I have to draw a line somewhere, you know?"

Wait really? It is getting hard to tell whether or not she's actually charming this girl, if she's attractive to her. Umi knows that she's tall (for a Japanese middle-schooler) and slender and athletic and pretty, and she tries not to let it go to her head but she's feeling a little inflated right now.

...good manners girl.

And how does she feel about Trace now? "You're still welcome. I couldn't leave someone alone to panic and freak out, especially in your shape." Trying to just make it an observation, without making a big deal of it, but that's pretty hard. Finishing her own sandwich a little behind Trace, she sits back, drinking her water. "...don't wanna get caught up this soon."

"Yeah... you've got a good heart, Umi." She wasn't quite sure what that meant, herself, but it was basically just another way of calling her 'sweet' again. Trace didn't like to repeat herself.

As much as she disliked it, sometimes, it was a basic fact. She was... well, she could handle herself, and be fine on her own, but having someone willing to help her made a lot of things feel safer. Not to mention more convenient. As for her... okay, yeah, she had a crush on Umi. A tiny one, at the moment, but still. "Mm. Think we should go hunting for drug stores and hair dressers and stuff, now? And before you say anything, I'm still gonna pay for you. Even after all that."

Man, Trace keeps complimenting her though. It really does feel like she has a crush on Umi, but she's not sure how she feels about that to be honest. Where does she go with that? Especially in a place like this, where she's sure that people out there have even less than crushes on each other. "Thanks."

"Why do you get to keep paying? We should both have the same amount of money. You're going to run out, and then I'll have to pay for you until you get a job anyways." It seems like a silly way to go about it, but if they're sticking together for now, it shouldn't leave them on the street either.

"Call it my chivalrous heart, I guess? The food here isn't that expensive, so I've still got a decent amount." She waves it off... to be honest, it's just Trace selfishly trying to make herself feel useful, but Umi didn't need to know that.

"I insist. C'mon, you kept me from cracking my skull open on the pavement back then. It's the least I can do."

All kinds of chivalry between these two. It's nice to have a friend like this, even if they might end up frustrating each other insisting on doing things. With the help she's given Trace getting around, though, she can accept this. "Alright, alright. You buy me things, I keep your skull in one piece."

A little morbid, maybe. "I just hope no one messes with us when they see us not doing anything."

"Ehh... if someone tells us to do something, we can just say we're planning on doing it later." That seems like a good plan to Trace. Both those things, actually.

She reaches for her crutch and leans on it as she stands up, her eye drifting over to Umi. "Not like they'd have anyway to tell, right? Maybe we're just stocking up for a night of passion." ... Wow, that was a bad thought to have, with all the awkwardness between them.

Before Trace says anything awkward, Umi is already standing, waiting to see if Trace needs help and offering her a hand. It's almost certainly going to be easier this way, she's just not sure if she should wrap an arm around her or under her arms or what.

Though now it's more awkward doing any of that. "Wh-... haha... y-yeah... stocking up, the two of us to... have a night... us... together..."

Trace is kind of awkward now too, so she just takes Umi's hand and uses it for some added leverage. Okay, she's good now. She's standing.

"... Sorry." Trace mumbles. Though it was kind of cute, seeing Umi all flustered like that. "I, uh, gotta learn to think before I speak." Or just not speak at all, at this rate. "Still, it'd probably get them off our backs, you know?"

Suddenly, even holding hands feels like it's just a bit different than it would've have been a minute ago. It's hard to take something like that back and pretend it was never said in a place like this, when she's having thoughts like this. "Oh, don't worry, my brain to mouth filter is pretty bad too."

Still holding Trace's hand, she leans just a bit closer. "Are they gonna believe two girls as nervous as we are? I.... man, they'd probably ask for a preview or something."

She's half tempted to lean in and kiss Umi, suddenly, but she quickly pushes that thought aside. They might be sorta-kinda flirting, but she didn't want to make a leap of faith only to realize she had gotten the wrong idea, or something.

... It's kind of hard to think straight, though, with Umi so close. And her still holding her hand. "Uh, well... hm. We'll figure it out if it happens, I guess. No sense in worrying about things that haven't happened."

Umi might not even know if it was a bad idea or not when it was happening. They're too close, though, even though this shouldn't be a big deal at all, just holding someone's hand after you help them up. She's got one leg. It's natural to help, and that means holding her. Her hand.

Despite the sudden nervousness between them, she's just not yet letting go. "W-we will, of course, it, um... we'll have to..." Turning away a little. "Sh-should we ask for directions?"

"Yeah, I guess we should... probably from somebody who isn't, uh, busy, though." Smooth, smooth. That was totally a good thing to do, bringing that up. Her hand squeezes Umi's a little, even with her leaning firmly on her crutch she didn't feel like letting go, and when she turns away...

Well, Trace doesn't go for it because of a sudden burst of courage or anything. She just... she doesn't know what was going to happen. For all she knows, something awful could happen the moment she left Umi's side. She kind of wants to have a goofy, happy memory. She guesses. Maybe. Either way, she kisses Umi's cheek, quickly and awkwardly. That was way less likely to lead to horrible things than an actual kiss, right? "Thanks a bunch."

"Yeah, yeah, haha. I'm sure there are plenty of people, someone has to know enough to help us." No one in the middle of banging wants two derpy teenagers asking for directions. Maybe they'll need to go back to that info center place sooner.

Umi's turned away, so she isn't really expecting anything from Trace. Maybe some more awkward hand holding, maybe a little more weight place on her. In fact, she barely registers what just happened to her cheek for a moment, until Trace pulls away and thanks her once again.

Cue a swiftly rising blush as she turns back. What does she do or say now that was a kiss, even if it was on the cheek, while they're holding hands. "I, um... T-Trace..."

"... Sorry. Coming on too strong?" Trace asks, disentangling her hand from Umi's and taking a step back.

"It was, uh, just sort of an urge. You've done a lot for me, and all..." And also she was really pretty, and treated her way nicer than she thought she deserved. "You know? ... No, you probably don't. Sorry."

"Nonono! It's not... I mean..." Umi reaches for Trace's hand with both of hers, not just to keep her from falling or to help her up, but to hold her hand. "I..."

She doesn't want to think that she's only feeling what she is because she likes having someone reliant on her. That's not what she wants out of her at all, and Trace really needs someone she can rely on. But she's also... funny? In an awkward derpy way. Is she... "I... um, it's alright and... you're... do you... have a, uh... are you interested in me?" So red, and she's managed to go to an all-girls school without ever even thinking about girls being into her (protip: a few are).

"I, uh... sorta? Sorry, I get that's a weird thing to spring on you, especialyl so quickly. And in a place like this. It's not, like, deep burning love or anything, but I like you. That's... about it, really." She couldn't really gush over her, because there was nothing to gush about. She doesn't know Umi that well, or even really at all. She's just... nice. Trace likes her sort of instinctively.

Her hand fidgets awkwardly in Umi's grasp. "Don't worry too much about it. It was a stupid thing to do."

"Yeah it's really surprising and weird... and, um... it... surprised me?" Uh huh. Surprising things surprise her. Who's tactful now. "And, you're cute, and stuff... so I guess it's alright, even if it's here."

If it's here. Where just kind of liking someone might go who knows where. She loosens her grip, and lets go with one of her hands, bashfully looking down. "So it was alright that you did that, and if... w-well if you warn me next time... maybe it's okay to do again." It's not like she's into Trace back or anything except she's already called her cute and held her hand so what else is it?

"I... yeah, sure. I'll be, uh, sure to warn you next time." That obviously implies there's going to be a next time. She might have let go with one hand, but yeah, they were still holding hands. Trace suddenly didn't mind. At all.

"... Man, we suck. At everything. Come on, let's, uh, get a move on. Before we wind up collapsing in on ourselves from how awkward we are, or something." Her leg was starting to ache a bit, too, but she didn't want to worry Umi or anything. More than she already had.

Umi actually catches that whole idea of a next time, and it's putting a lot of ideas and a lot of related questions into her head. She's not sure how to handle it - and she can't run off and leave Trace hanging while she sorts it out. If she can sort it out.

"Ha... y-yeah, we're pretty bad at all of this huh?" Finally, Umi lets go of her hand, though she sticks close and makes sure to hold the door for Trace. "At least we aren't hungry on top of all that."
