With the City of Ariel grand opening only a month away, we are holding our first ever test drive meme. Tag in and see how your character would settle in the game. You're a fresh face in the city, newly processed, and arriving at a bustling time. The city is expanding and you are greeted first in the re-education center by your helpful counselors and then directed out of the building to a large festival.

Be puzzled, make friends, have sex, or whatever you want! There are no restrictions on thread types played out here.

Your first awareness that something has gone wrong comes during a groggy moment of semi-lucidity when you look around yourself and find that -- instead of wherever you remember being last -- you're in a chair, in a room with a man you don't recognize. He's sitting behind a desk whistling to himself and sorting paperwork. The whole atmosphere might remind you of a high school guidance counselor's office, only with far more comfortable chairs.

When your head clears enough to speak and you ask him where you are, he smiles brightly and says, "Welcome to the City of Ariel."

You were brought to Ariel during a very special time! There's a large festival going on celebrating the new expansions to the city and everything is decked out for it. Everything is bustling and vibrant in the city today because of the celebrations. There are decorations up, food vendors set up all along the streets, kissing booths, games, and just about anything else you can imagine an event like this would have!

The people of Ariel are out and about as well, some are in vibrant costumes and others are just checking out the sights. Some of the more exhibitionist types are even having a little more fun out in public than you may be used to seeing back home.

As soon as the grogginess from your arrival passes, you are allowed to leave the re-education center and see it all for yourself. Upon exiting, you are even handed beads of various colors, several of each so you don't worry about running out.

Each color has a special meaning listed below:

pink - toys
blue - oral
yellow - watersports
green - age play
lavender - crossdressing
orange - multiples
grey - bondage
white - hands (mutual masturbation, fingering, handjob)
red - blood
black - wildcard

These are to aid you in making a connection with others. Show your interest in others and tell them exactly what you would like to do with them by sharing the beads.

If you would rather take a different approach, feel free to walk around the festival and see what (or who) catches your eye. The point is to relax and get settled in your new home.

Oh good she's got the first step down, and running around trying to save a world that isn't your is kind of doing the second. So, a little metal?

"Slightly abnormal." Umi's getting the hang of telling when Trace is joking already, which is good because otherwise she might be getting annoyed instead. Really, as far as she can tell, Trace mostly seems a little weird and a lot lonely, and it's kind of sad.

...yeah soccer's not happening like that. "Haha, yeah. Fencing is... pretty important to me, actually, I've been doing it for a few years now and I've gotten really good at it."

A little weird and a lot lonely is a good way of describing her, actually. Which, yeah, is pretty sad.

"Mm. It's good to have something like that. Even if you don't wanna do it forever or anything, it's something that keeps you focused, right? A girl I know," note the word choice there, not a friend, "is like that with kendo. Something you can focus on, and improve on, does a good job centering yourself." Trace leans back, rubbing a bit at her scarred eye. Then winces at the pain. Yeesh, getting an itch there must be the most annoying thing on the planet.

"... I sound like a fortune cookie, don't I."

Look though, she's made a friend who isn't even all that weird (or so she thinks). Umi's pretty sure that she likes Trace enough to at least befriend her barring some kind of ridiculous difference of opinion. Even awkward won't change that.

"It's a pretty good way of looking at it, though. Both of my friends are like that - one does kendo, the other archery - and it's nice having something to keep you focused." A waitress comes over, finally, asking what they want to drink; Umi's unsure of what the drinks are gonna be like and just asks for a glass of water. "Fencing is good exercise too."

Trace just echoes the glass of water, mostly because she can't find any soda brands she's familiar with.

"Mm... yeah, I guess that's right. These days I just sit around and play video games, though. I guess that's one way of keeping focused?" She chuckles, awkwardly, then just sort of shuts up for a second.

"... Hey, you think maybe they took our friends, too? I mean, I haven't seen mine, but that doesn't mean they aren't here."

Soda will make you fat anyways, and that's even worse when you're eating something with as many calories as she sometimes eats in an entire day. "It's not the only thing you should focus on, but I play them too. Unless you're pro-level competitive." Which is a very new and still very Japanese thing in Umi's time.

"Ugh, I kind of hope they haven't. It would be terrible for them here." Hikaru? In this kind of city? Umi doesn't even want to think about it. She and Fuu are taken anyways! At least Umi's single.

...she's having a harder time keeping her mind off of what she's available for too.

Trace doesn't eat much, but, y'know, no exercise.

"Haha, nah. I follow the pro stuff, but I'm not that crazy good. Or dedicated, for that matter." Trace still hadn't cottoned on to the fact that Umi was from a decade and some change before her. Mostly because there hadn't been any real reason to question it.

"My friends... actually I think they'd be cool with it." Moon would be completely fine with all the weird sex stuff, because she had no shame at all, and Chipo... probably just wouldn't care. Much like she didn't really care about everything else.

"... Doesn't mean I want them here, though. Even if they wouldn't mind, it's still not something they should go through. If that makes any sense."

Two things Umi may very well have to fix. There are almost certainly medical professionals here, and possibly even gym facilities. Staying cooped up and antisocial seems like the worst thing Trace could do in her shape. "What, really? Your friends are weird enough that they'd be cool with it?"

The very thought of Fuu and Hikaru being cool with this is foreign. Fuu would be a tomato, Hikaru would more clueless than either of them (at least in Umi's mind, she doesn't know if Hikaru is some kind of secret pervert or something). "Really, I keep getting what you mean. Don't talk like you're speaking a different language to me."

"Well, one of them is weird. The other... she's just the kind of girl who doesn't really let anything bother her, I guess. I kind of admire her for that." Trace explains, waving her hand a little. Though Chipo not letting anything bother her probably wasn't much of a conscience thing on her part. It was just sort of how she was.

"Lo siento. I just feel like I'm babbling, and then I worry if you can keep up... eheh. I haven't had an easy-going conversation in a while." Yes, that first bit was just Trace being a smartass.

"It's good to not let things bother you but sometimes it goes a little too far, honestly." Like Fuu with some of the stranger things in Cefiro. "Normal people should be a little bothered by a place like this! Even weird people should be." Look at it. Sex.

"...Spanish huh?" Score one for the foreign-language speaker. "If you start babbling in that I might lose track of you, but you're not nearly scatterbrained enough to lose me like this."

"Thanks. I think." Trace shrugs, scratching at her cheek. Good thing she hadn't lost an arm instead of a leg, or her awkward gestures would be a lot harder to pull off.

"Ehh... I'm bothered by this place, don't get me wrong, but why's it matter one way or the other? If anything, her keeping her head on straight would be a good thing. It'd help to have someone around who could actually focus on thinking of a way out. She's good at that sort of thing." There's Trace, going to bat for her friend. Mostly because it was Moon who constantly insulted her.

"... I take it your Spanish isn't that great, then?" And moving swiftly on, because she suddenly realizes Umi wasn't really insulting anybody.

Losing an arm would be such a pain ~~like in that other RP she's in~~, it would throw her balance off when she's fencing and baking would be an impossible balancing act sometimes. "Yeah, but... eh, well, you have a point that it might help..." But it still makes Trace's friend weird.

"Spanish is not my strong suit. I'm Japanese, and I speak English fairly well, and I can do a little Italian. If I had the chance I could learn European Spanish pretty easily based off of Italian, but it's never really come up." And from there, Latin American Spanish would be a pretty small jump. Just bits and pieces that don't match up.

Weird, but she's the sort of weird Trace admires.

"Ahhhh. I see. I'm... ehhhhhn." Trace makes a weird little noise in her throat, looks up at the ceiling, then sort of shrugs. "... Uhm, well, my dad was... I don't really know, like, heritage wise, but he had a Japanese name and was born in Japan and stuff. And my mom's... ehhhhn." Another weird noise. "Yeah, I can't help you on that one. I was born in Japan, but we moved to America when I was like six, so I guess I'm Japanese too? I don't really know much of the language, though. I haven't spoken it since I was a kid. I can do English and a bit of Spanish, and maybe if I reached down deep I could do some Japanese. That's about it."

That is a really unsure description of her heritage. Umi can still follow it, but that is the most unsure sound coming from a human throat she has probably heard in her life, and it's kind of awkward just listening to it. "So you're at least... from Japan originally, but you've grown up in America? That is kind of interesting but..."

They've already talked about a lot, but she doesn't want to pry too hard, but she has questions and... "So... who do you live with now?"

"My aunt and my little brother. My dad died when I was little. My mom's still alive, but... eh, it's complicated." 'It's complicated' was a good way to describe her life in general, really.

"I used to have a big sister, too, but..." She motions vaguely to her scar. It wasn't that awkward of a subject for her, she misses her like hell but it wasn't something she liked to let herself feel bad about... at the same time, though, she kind of hopes Umi got the gist just from the little gesture. Outright saying she died in an accident was still a bit rough.

Complicated. Compared to Umi, with her lovey-dovey parents who smothered her without suffocating her, who she loved and had a great relationship with, and her two best friends both have picture-perfect home lives as well. If anything, it reminds of the people they've met in Cefiro, and that's... sad.

"Y-yeah. Sorry to hear that." That's what you say, right? It's not something to pry into, and she definitely gets it. So she lost more than just a leg and an eye.

"Don't." That was all Trace had to offer. Acknowledging that she died was fine, but... it was weird, but having people going 'sorry' just made it feel worse.

"... Wonder when our drinks will get here." Again, moving swiftly on. Umi had asked, she had answered, and suddenly things were awkward between them for a very different reason. "They didn't seem that busy, did they? Haha, maybe the idea is to take so long to get the food here that..." Wait, no. Bad direction to take a joke in. Stop. Abort, abort.

"Alright." Ugh. This whole thing is pretty disheartening. She'd rather talk about sex then about dead family and grievous injuries - she's seen what losing someone close to you does to a person.

"I dun-oh." Well, they've got their water now! How nice, and their orders for food are being taken, and hopefully they can talk about things that are at least funny? "Hey, hey, don't start that. It doesn't look or sound like anyone's doing that in here, right? This is a restaurant not a brothel. We'll be fine."

Since they're both ordering the same thing, that's one simple ordering process. She sips on the water a bit.

"Yeah, I guess... then again, out there was the streets, not a brothel, and you saw what it was like." Trace shrugs. "Then again... iunno, I never got the impression they'd force us into anything? Like, physically, I mean. I can tell what they want us to do, but... yeah." Trace was rambling again, and going off vague guesses... but vague guesses were all she really had, at the moment.

"Not yet they haven't." But yeah, even the streets were full of it. If they had brothels maybe they were running booths, like when a local restaurant has a truck or cart at a festival. Only with a lot more sweating and moaning. "Maybe they figure if they just surround us with it we'll get pulled in sooner or later."

Which really feels like the point, because it's really hard getting it out of her head right now. She's seen some really attractive people too, which makes it worse.

Trace, for her part, is mostly just focusing on not thinking about Umi having sex. Which was hard, since they were talking about it.

"Probably. Suggestion can be pretty powerful, and all that. Mob mentality." She sips awkwardly on her water again, scratching at her cheek for what must be the dozenth time that day. "I mean... I definitely don't want to, right now, but who knows how long we'll be stuck here?"

Wow, pervert. Umi hasn't been paying nearly as much attention to Trace in return, though it's bound to come up.

Sipping. Water isn't very distracting. Itches are probably more distracting. Who wants to have sex when you're itchy? "Ugh, don't get me started. I'm sure we'll be fine if it's not for very long, and I've got the willpower to hold out and you don't want to right now. So how long..." No, no, there it is. Now she's thinking about Trace.

She's not a pervert. She's trying not to think about it. Mostly failing, but still.

"Yeah, that's exactly my point. We might be here for months, even. We'd have to give in eventually, right? I mean. We're teenagers." She motions vaguely to them both, then takes another sip of her water. Wow, it isn't very distracting.

And with that thought, Umi has probably reached a critical point in everybody's life: the moment they decide whether or not they find horrible scars attractive.

"M-months?!" No, she wasn't in Cefiro that long. But... then again, they had a distinct goal both times, even if it was difficult and took SOME time to complete. Here, there's no 'get out of sexland' ultimate goal to journey for, just sex until they figure something out.

"I'm a very disciplined teenager though and I'm a good proper girl and... and..." Gesturing like that doesn't help, she doesn't even know how sex with other girls works and she's already thinking about that leg and if it hurts and NO. "Um."

...scars aren't her fetish or anything but it doesn't make Trace less attractive.

"Hey, hey, good and proper doesn't have anything to do with it. You're still a teenager. And... well, like I said. Discipline can be worn down." If she smoked like her big sister used to, that'd be a cool line to take a drag on. As it stands, she just sort of takes a sip of he water.

As for the leg, the answer is: yes. It hurts like hell, sometimes, though there are days when it's fine. "Hopefully it won't come to that, though. I mean, I don't hate the idea of sex, but I want it to at least have a little meaning. Plus auntie would probably kill me if she found out somehow."

Yes, the problem is that she knows she's a teenager. Oh, she's a teenager, no matter how dense, and getting thoughts out of her head is hard once they get lodged in there. "I... I really hope we're not here long enough to wear it down." It might drive Umi to smoke. Or drink.

Maybe she can distract Trace from the pain with... ...no. Still not... "I-I know I'm going to have it, especially if I get married, but I wanted to wait until it was with someone really special, and my parents would be really disappointed if I just... just... ended up with any old person."
