CITY OF ARIEL: THE TEST DRIVE THE OVERFLOW Since the last post is fast approaching 3k comments and getting laggy for some of our players, we have decided to go ahead and stick up the overflow post. Please continue your threads or start new ones here if you'd like. We started the meme early to give you plenty of room to do just that. ◆◆◆◆ With the City of Ariel grand opening only a month away, we are holding our first ever test drive meme. Tag in and see how your character would settle in the game. You're a fresh face in the city, newly processed, and arriving at a bustling time. The city is expanding and you are greeted first in the re-education center by your helpful counselors and then directed out of the building to a large festival. Be puzzled, make friends, have sex, or whatever you want! There are no restrictions on thread types played out here. Your first awareness that something has gone wrong comes during a groggy moment of semi-lucidity when you look around yourself and find that -- instead of wherever you remember being last -- you're in a chair, in a room with a man you don't recognize. He's sitting behind a desk whistling to himself and sorting paperwork. The whole atmosphere might remind you of a high school guidance counselor's office, only with far more comfortable chairs. When your head clears enough to speak and you ask him where you are, he smiles brightly and says, "Welcome to the City of Ariel." You were brought to Ariel during a very special time! There's a large festival going on celebrating the new expansions to the city and everything is decked out for it. Everything is bustling and vibrant in the city today because of the celebrations. There are decorations up, food vendors set up all along the streets, kissing booths, games, and just about anything else you can imagine an event like this would have! The people of Ariel are out and about as well, some are in vibrant costumes and others are just checking out the sights. Some of the more exhibitionist types are even having a little more fun out in public than you may be used to seeing back home. As soon as the grogginess from your arrival passes, you are allowed to leave the re-education center and see it all for yourself. Upon exiting, you are even handed beads of various colors, several of each so you don't worry about running out. Each color has a special meaning listed below: pink - toys blue - oral yellow - watersports green - age play lavender - crossdressing orange - multiples grey - bondage white - hands (mutual masturbation, fingering, handjob) red - blood black - wildcard These are to aid you in making a connection with others. Show your interest in others and tell them exactly what you would like to do with them by sharing the beads. If you would rather take a different approach, feel free to walk around the festival and see what (or who) catches your eye. The point is to relax and get settled in your new home.

She stopped, hands up, palms out. "Sorry, I just... Dude. You are way too cool, and I'm just trying to get a closer look. Sorry."

The last thing she wanted was to have him leave while she was still trying to wrap her head around the fact that he was real. And talking.

"It's alright I guess. I just want to be careful."

Relaxing a little now, he settled with his legs crossed and propped a hand on his chin. "You're just different and different in humans has been a big reason to be careful. It's nothing personal." He just didn't want anymore scenarios like Xanatos or the Pack.

"Well, I get that." She was used to being wary of new people herself, but, come on, it wasn't like gargoyles were trying to enlist her for hacking or tech supply. Besides, considering where they were? She didn't think she had much to worry about in that regards anymore.

"Are there... um, others? Like you? Around here, I mean."

"I don't know, I just got here so I was looking around."

Something poking out of her satchel caught his attention and he dropped his gaze to see before a spark of interest appeared in his expression. "You have a laptop?"

That he knew what it was kind of threw her, but it also piqued her own interest. Pulling open the flap of her satchel, she nodded, sliding the laptop in question out. "Yeah, it's my baby. Made it myself, but, unfortunately it seems have been somewhat neutered by our hosts."

A fact she was intently sour about.

It was a machine and machines were his life. Motorcycles, helicopters, computers, video games...if it was technology he was interested. And even more that someone else liked to make them.

"You made it? Do you...mind if I take a look?" Somehow he wasn't surprised it had been tampered with for this place though.

She beamed, shaking her head. "No, not at all. Um, you wanna go find a table or something to sit at?" The fact that he was a) a gargoyle and b) interested in tech made him the singularly most cool thing she'd seen today.

"How much do you know about computers?"

[stonebydaytech]

"Sure. Do you know a place?" The inclusion of this one thing had pretty much push any misgivings aside. "I know a bit. I've studied a lot of technology in the last year."

"Um, there's some tables set up near where the food booths are. I'm sure we could grab one, if you don't mind actually getting there." She slipped the laptop back in her back, nodding in the general direction - which was through a press of people.

"Only the last year? Jeez, Lex. We have to crash course you."

[stonebydaytech]

"Worst case would be that they scream and run." Rubbing the back of his head, he shrugged. But at the mention of a crash course he smiled. "There was no technology in in the year 995. So I'm already in a crash course."

She chuckled at him, then began to lead the way to where she remembered seeing the food booths. "You're really from back that far, huh? That's both cool and oddly terrifying. I don't think I'd last long wearing frocks or riding horses."

"I don't think anyone outside of that time period would. Things are so different now that it's like an entirely different world."

Surprisingly, at least to him, nobody ran away screaming about monsters. It was weird, but not unpleasant.

She found a table and got comfy on one of the benches, pulling her laptop out and placing it down for him to look at. "Well, you're from that time period. How are you with this one? I mean, wasn't it easier transitioning through all that time?"

[stonebydaytech]

"Actually, I spent that thousand years in an enchanted sleep and woke up in this time period. So transition is still happening."

Hopping onto the back of the bench, he leaned in close enough to easily see the computer.

"... That actually happens? You're like, Sleeping Beauty with wings." SHe laughed, trying to stifle it so he didn't think she was trying to be mean.

She opened it up, turning it on and showing him the basic OS that the place would allow her. "I can't pick up any of their frequencies, and they've practically stripped her down to the bare necessities, but I'm just glad she works. They totally killed my accessories, and I'm bummed about that."

Leaning back, she scowled slightly, finger twirling her ring on her finger.

"Not that close," Lexington said with a smile. "No one had to kiss us to break the spell." And Sleeping Beauty didn't turn to stone to sleep...but details.

Frowning a little, he studied the screen quietly. "Maybe we can upgrade it enough to use the city's network. There's alays a way to."

"Well, from what their little 'intro' said, I'll be able to get it upgraded as I, uh, upgrade. And since they have some kind of chip in my head, I'm not exactly willing to give them the finger until I know exactly what the consequences are." It was one thing to be a hacker or sell blackmarket weapons and toys when she could thumb her nose at authority and maybe get jail time, but this? This was a little freaky. Okay, a lot freaky.

"ell, yeah. Smartest not to pull anything with them before knowing what could happen." He wasn't very comfortable with the requirements to move up in this place either...especially still very much a virgin as he was.

"Anything that requires 'rehabilitating' doesn't sound pleasant to me. So I'll just keep my nose clean, for now, and party like a rockstar." Sky was very much not a virgin, but she picked up on the discomfort and it made her grin.

[stonebydaytech]

"Yeah, in this place it sounds more like it'll be brainwashing or something like that." He caught that grin and and shuffled his talons. "What?"

"This is probably going to sound bad no matter how I put it, so I'll just say it. What exactly are the mating habits of gargoyles? I mean..." She let her eyes flit down for a minute, then back up to his face, still smirking.

[stonebydaytech]

"M-Mating habits?" Lex shifted his gaze away and coughed. "It..well it's not complicated. We fall in love and...have sex like anyone else. We just don't have marriage customs or specific family settings for hatch-lings."

"Well, I don't mean to burst your bubble or anything, but I don't think they're going to exactly wait for you to get your happily ever after going on." And because they were on the topic, she propped her chin up on her hand grinning at him. "Sex like humans? I mean... all the same equipment?"

[stonebydaytech]

"Well, I know that...but how else was I supposed to say it?"

He felt the sudden urge to close his legs, but didn't do it, not wanting to look more awkward that he was. "I'd guess so. I mean, I've never seen a human naked but we can't be that different."

She laughed. "You have a tail. And wings. That's a whole scale of different right there, Lex. Not that I'm complaining. I think they're great. But if you've never seen a naked human before, how do you know it's all the same?" To be fair, human males were one of the only animals that didn't have sheaths or something protective for their genitals. She did, however, manage to avoid letting her eyes stray again. Poor guy looked like he wanted to bolt.
